VISITORS to a garden attraction will be surrounded by butterflies as they emerge from their pupae.
Durham University's Botanic Gardens has received deliveries of 50 Filipino butterfly pupae and about 30 moths.
Over the next three months, further batches of 50 will arrive, with the creatures gradually hatching out to fill the greenhouse.
Visitors will be able to wander among the butterflies and moths, watching them feed and fly.
Head gardener Michael Hughes said: "Quite a lot of the moths and about six butterflies have already hatched.
"We have them most years, and they are quite large. When most of them have hatched out, they look pretty good."
From next month, admission charges will increase to £1.75 for adults, 50p for children under 16 and £1 for concessions. Under-fives are free.
