GIRLS at a school in Harrogate plan to swim the equivalent of a lap around the UK coastline to raise money for charity.
Pupils at Harrogate Ladies College will be joined in the final hour of their 24-hour swimathon by gold medal winner Marc Woods to help complete the 3,042 mile challenge.
The swim will be in relays in the school's swimming pool, from 8.30am tomorrow until 8.30am on Friday.
The money raised will go to Water Aid, which provides clean water in developing countries, and Springwater School in Harrogate, which helps children with learning disabilities.
Mr Woods, who swam in the Sydney Paralympics, is the latest celebrity to back the school's charity drive. The school raised £2,877 with an auction for which more than 50 celebrities donated autographs
