THIS is the face of a bogus caller who attempted to steal a tin containing cash from an 83-year-old woman.
The incident happened at about 7pm on Thursday at an address in Mount Pleasant Road, Stockton.
The woman was led to believe that the man was from a water company, and after being asked to go upstairs to check her taps she returned to find him with the tin, which contained £250, and her purse with £50.
She tried to grab the tin from the man, who is thought to be aged between 30 and 40, and managed to do so without injury, but he still got away with her purse.
The man was wearing a dark jacket and trousers and a checked shirt. He is described as plump, white and about 5ft 8in.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective Constable Martin Chaffey on (01642) 326326
