A PLAN is being hatched for hundreds of people to escape from a North-East prison.
Teams will be taking part in The Great Escape to raise cash for charities of their choice.
Based on the 1963 film, which starred Steve McQueen, the event at Holme House Prison, in Stockton, is being organised by the Active Community Trust.
Spokesman Alan Swales said: "Prizes of up to £2,500 will be awarded to the team that achieves the furthest distance and some teams are even talking about locations as France, Italy - or maybe even Scarborough.
"Prizes will also be awarded to the team that escapes wearing the most inappropriate and ridiculous costumes as well as the most interesting way of escape."
The event, on June 21, will allow charities and groups to join in and raise funds by getting sponsored. They can keep everything they earn after they have paid the £100 registration fee to cover the cost of the event.
