A NEW dog grooming business is taking the anxiety out of clipping dogs' claws for nervous owners.
The service is part of the Perfect Paws company set up by Richard Kerridge, 22, and Lee Lennard, 26, at 11 Parkgate, Darlington.
The friends were made redundant by Guide Dogs for the Blind when it closed its Middlesbrough centre. Together they had chalked up 14 years with the charity.
"We enjoy working with animals and were determined that the skills and knowledge we had gained wouldn't go to waste," said Richard.
"Modern-day pet owners love to lavish attention on their pets but, with today's hectic lifestyles, they don't want all the hassle of grooming."
The partners have built on their knowledge of animal care with an additional two-week residential course in dog grooming, in Sheffield, and a day-course on microchipping.
The fledgling business is in turn being groomed for success by Walker Hall associates, a specialist business support organisation.
