TWO people arrested following a triple stabbing have been released on bail.

Cleveland Police say police will be interviewing the 18-year-old woman and 22-year-old again.

About 30 officers are involved in the hunt for a gang - who were both black and white - who carried out the attack on two Afro-Caribbean woman and an Afro-Caribbean man at a house in Albany Street, Middlesbrough - not in Kingston Street as had been first thought.

The 25-year-old male victim who was stabbed once in the torso and a 26-year-old woman wounded with a single stab wound to her upper back are reported to be stable in Middlesbrough General Hospital where they were taken following the incident in the early hours of Monday.

The second woman, who was stabbed in the chest, was later released from hospital.

Detective Sergeant Ted Allen, of Cleveland Police, said: "It's thought that in the immediate aftermath of the attack several people, both victims and attackers, burst from the house in Albany Street and scattered in various directions.''

Police have recovered three knives and are undertaking searches of the probable routes taken by people fleeing the scene. It is not known whether the knives that have been found were used in the attack.

Det Sgt Allen said: "We believe cash and mobile phones may have been stolen from the house by those who carried out the attack.

"We know there are a number of people in the area who have a good idea of who was responsible and we would ask them to contact us.

"We are also aware there are a number of people who are part of the criminal fraternity in the town who know what is happening and why, and we are asking them to speak to the police."
