THREE boys from the most junior branch of the Scouting movement became some of the first in the country to win a new award.
District commissioner Tony Gent paid a visit to 26th All Saints' Beaver Scout Group at Ravensdale Road, Darlington, last week to present Andrew Hutchon, James Dobson and Daniel Harsley with their Bronze Scout awards. He also invested three new Beaver Scouts.
To win the new award - the highest a Beaver Scout can be given - Beavers must succeed in three areas: an outdoor challenge, personal challenge and a friendship or discovery challenge.
Leader Kath Harsley said: "We are proud to be among the first to receive these awards and that the District Commissioner was able to share in our sense of achievement".
The new members prepared by drawing and writing about a beaver. They showed the drawings to the Commissioner at the beginning of the investiture.
