TEAMS of firefighters tackled a blaze at a business unit on an industrial estate yesterday.
They were called to the fire, in an engineering unit at Progress Way, Leeming Bar, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, shortly after 11am.
The fire had already taken a strong hold and three more appliances and an emergency tender were sent.
Initial efforts were focused on preventing the fire from spreading into neighbouring units and, although there was damage to the properties, it was restricted mainly to heat and smoke.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the main seat of the fire and removed oxygen bottles which were taken away to cool.
After about 90 minutes the blaze was sufficiently under control for the emergency crews to start scaling down their operations.
The cause is still under investigation, although it is not thought to be suspicious.
