A COMMUNITY centre offering a one-stop shop for residents' problems has opened.
Chopwell Community Centre, built next to Chopwell Library, in Gateshead, aims to bring a wide range of groups under one roof, including neighbourhood relations service, housing management team and the Gateshead Private Landlords' Association.
The £45,000 project is a joint venture between Gateshead Council and Northumbria Police. Funding was secured through the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund and the Single Regeneration Budget.
Although it will be staffed by council officers and police, it is hoped that the centre will develop to include other services, such as a benefits office.
