FREE passes to leisure services will be on offer to passengers on a bus route launched this weekend.
To mark the opening of the South Derwentside Link 767 service, launched on Saturday, passengers can travel for free.
Their bus ticket will also entitle them to free admission to some events in Stanley and Consett on the day.
On Saturday, the Louisa Centre, in Stanley, will accept the ticket as entry to its Play Zone for youngsters under nine, plus free badminton and short tennis.
Belle Vue Swim Centre, Consett, will offer passengers a free swim.
In addition, Asda, in Stanley, is offering a free cup of tea or coffee this Saturday to anyone who produces a 767 ticket.
The service was set up by Durham County Council and Derwentside District Council.
Chris Graham, the county's rural transport officer, said: "A number of community groups, including the South Derwentside Partnership, have identified a need for improved access to services from some areas of Derwentside.
"The new 767 service is in response to requests for a new bus route and we are planning to pilot it for six months. If it is successful, we will operate it on a permanent basis."
Grants have paid for a 14-seater bus for the service, which will run from Monday to Saturday.
The service runs between Stanley and Consett.
