AN exhibition highlighting mental health issues has been launched by John Cummings, MP for Easington.
The 1 in 4 exhibition, produced by the Government's mindOut for mental health campaign, is at East Durham and Houghall Community College, in Peterlee, for the rest of this month.
It features photographs of people and their experiences of mental health problems, as well as artwork by others whose lives have been touched by mental illness or learning disabilities.
The show was organised by Tees and North East Yorkshire NHS Trust, whose chairman, Eileen Grace, said: "We are thrilled to be able to offer the people of east Durham this opportunity to enjoy an exhibition that has attracted national attention and features people such as John Hannah, Patsy Palmer and Paul Merton."
Mr Cummings said: "One in four adults will suffer a mental illness at some point in their lives, and it has been acknowledged nationally that Easington has higher than the average number of people with mental health problems.
"So I am delighted to support the trust's campaign to tackle the stigma often attached to mental illness."
