THE driver of a lorry and his passenger were thrown through the windscreen of the vehicle when it skidded and overturned on Cloughton Bank, near Scarborough, at 7.45am yesterday.
Paramedics rescued the men from the rubble of a wall which the lorry demolished in the accident. The men, who have not been named, were taken to Scarborough Hospital for treatment.
BENEFIT CONCERT: Kirkbymoorside Baroque Orchestra will hold a concert tomorrow. All proceeds will be donated to the St Hilda's Festival Chorus for their preparations for a performance in October. The concert will be held at St Hilda's Church, West Cliff, Whitby, at 7.30pm. Admission is £5, and £3 for concessions.
TRAVEL FAIR: After a three-year break, Scarborough Borough Council has made a return to the biggest domestic travel fair in the country. In an effort to increase its share of the coach travel trade markets, the council will exhibit at next week's British Travel Trade Fair, in Birmingham.
FUN EVENING: Regulars at the Greyhound Inn, at Bagby, have raised £1,222 towards a profiling bed for Lambert Hospital, Thirsk. The money was raised by the League of Friends at a fun evening held at the pub, and boosted by £600 received from Sutton resident Ralph Rymer, who donated money received for his birthday.
ABBEY TOUR: A tour of Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, is being held on Sunday, April 6, and Wednesday, April 16. The tour will begin at the visitor centre at 1.30pm and normal admission prices will apply.
VILLAGE DANCE: An old-time dance will be held in Fearby and Healey Village Hall, near Masham, on Saturday, March 29, from 8pm. Admission is £4.
