MAJOR stores in York are among the many that have pledged their support for the city's late night shopping initiative.
Key names, including Marks & Spencer, Allders, Waterstone's, Toni and Guy, and Gap, have made clear their commitment to late night Thursday opening throughout the year.
More than 75 shops have signed up in support of the initiative, which has been developed by City of York Council, the Chamber of Commerce and First Stop York Tourism Partnership.
Brian Littlejohn, manager of Marks & Spencer, said: "The response and degree of support has been very encouraging and there is a real determination that this will be a great success."
The late-night opening will be launched on Thursday, April 17, and it is hoped the initiative will play a major role in boosting the city's night time economy.
First York has extended its Park and Ride services and car parks will be open until 9pm.
