A DUCK pond fountain out of action for 30 years is working again.
The water feature in the middle of Norton's duck pond has not worked since the early 1970s after its pump failed.
But a £3,000 project by Stockton Borough Council to return the fountain to its former glory saw it switched on yesterday.
Stockton councillor Steve Nelson, who represents the Norton ward, said: "The response we have had from the public to this has been great. A lot of people are delighted to see it back.
"The pond is a focal point for the village and the fountain has been sorely missed."
The fountain, which features overlapping stones, is switched off at teatime every day, but there are plans to have it running permanently, possibly with lighting at night..
