TIME is running out for musicians to enter a summertime battle of the bands in Hartlepool.
Held in June, the showcase for new talent is organised by Hartlepool music venue The Studio as part of the town's Youth Arts Festival, which gives youngsters a chance to shine in music, drama and dance.
The Battle of the Bands is open to bands and solo performers aged 24 and under from throughout the North-East. The closing date for entries is March 31.
Heats are taking place during May and June, with the finals at The Studio on June 21, during the festival.
Anyone wanting to take to the stage can use original or cover material and will have to play for 30 minutes.
Whoever wins will receive a day's recording in a studio, a master CD of the recording and the chance to perform live at the festival on June 28.
Liz Carter, manager of The Studio, said: "This is a tremendous chance for young musicians to step into the spotlight at a major new event, pitting their skills against competition from around the region."
To take part, call The Studio on (01429) 424440.
Hartlepool's Youth Arts Festival is aimed at 12 to 24-year-olds and runs from June 21 to 29.
It will also feature cult youth films, disc jockey workshops, open air theatre, poetry performances, a one-day street festival and a TFM Radio stage.
