The boss of union Amicus, Derek Simpson, is to open an employees' learning centre at television manufacturer LG Philips Displays on Monday.
The learning centre, based at LG Philips' base on the Belmont Industrial Estate, Durham, is a joint venture between the manufacturer, Amicus, the TUC and County Durham Learning and Skills Council.
It aims to provide the opportunity for employees to improve their education, skills and qualifications.
