A TEENAGER has denied a series of charges relating to the taking of a Jaguar car which lost control and crashed into the living room of a house.
Brett Crawford, 19, is accused of taking the green S-type vehicle after breaking into the owner's house and stealing the keys last June.
The W-registration car went out of control on a bend, hit a lamppost, careered down a bank and crashed through the front porch of a house in Wynyard, Chester-le-Street, coming to rest next to a coffee table, waking the family asleep upstairs.
Mr Crawford is also alleged to have taken a Fiat Punto car from the same house in Falstone Drive, Chester-le-Street, last June 4.
He was before Durham Crown Court yesterday when he pleaded not guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, relating to the Jaguar, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, referring to the Punto, driving while disqualified and burglary.
The case was adjourned for trial in May. Mr Crawford, of Jacques Terrace, Chester-le-Street, was remanded in custody pending the hearing.
