TWO MPs have attended the official opening of a primary care trust's (PCT) new headquarters.
William Hague, MP for Richmond, and Anne McIntosh, who represents York, were on hand for the opening of the Hambleton and Richmondshire PCT headquarters building, in Thirsk.
Sixty members of the PCT workforce of 750 are already based at the building, at Station Road Business Park. They moved last November from sites including Catterick Garrison and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.
Hambleton and Richmondshire PCT is responsible for the healthcare of 116,000 people in the area. Its responsibilities range from providing health care in community hospitals to health visits and physiotherapy. The trust held an open day last week when displays gave information on dental care services, district nursing, speech and language therapy and mental health.
Anne Botterill, the trust's communications manager, said: "It is a tribute to our staff, who have carried on providing excellent standards of health care.
