A WOMAN has died in hospital after the car she was driving collided with a lorry on Friday evening.
The victim, who is believed to be in her fifties, suffered serious chest injuries in the accident and was rushed to Middlesbrough General Hospital where she later died.
The crash happened just after 5pm on the B1365 at Tanton Bridge, near Stokesley, in North Yorkshire, when the woman's Peugeot 106 collided with the lorry on the bridge.
Firefighters from Stokesley, Coulby Newham and Northallerton used cutting equipment to free the woman. The driver of the lorry suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who saw the vehicles before the crash to contact Traffic Constable Andy Langford, on (01609) 783131.
