AN AEROBICS class introduced for young people is proving so popular that organisers are thinking of keeping it going indefinitely.
Wear Valley District Council has started the classes at Glenholme Leisure Centre, Crook, as part of the Sport Action Zone scheme.
Darren Brown, community physical activity co-ordinator, said that the Wednesday night classes are so popular that they have a full attendance of 20 young people every week.
The classes are led by fitness instructor Victoria Lidster and are held at the leisure centre from 6.15pm to 7.15pm.
They have dual benefits in that they keep young people off the streets, combating anti-social behaviour while at the same time keeping them fit.
Mr Brown said: "This is the first time we have done aerobics for this age group and so far it seems to have been successful.
