RESIDENTS focused on green issues at West Rainton's first environmental information day on Saturday.
The event, organised by Millennium Award winner Lesley King, took place in the village hall. Another award winner, Doris Fawcett, is pictured demonstrating sewing to 13-year-old Cally Barton. The event included displays and exhibitions on recycling, sustainable living, parish paths, trees, composting and energy saving. Plans for the village hall's refurbishment were also on display, and youngsters followed an indoor animal trail. The event was supported by organisations including the city and county councils, Durham Wildlife Trust and the Tree Council. Picture: BRIAN CLOUG
