Blaydon closed the gap on leaders Birtley, but they are still nine points adrift of the leaders with one game in hand.
Blaydon comfortably saw off the challenge from Wylam, winning 6-2 when both David Paylor and Shaun Lockey scored twice.
Just one other game was played in the league and Redheugh romped to a 9-0 success at home to Rutherford, who have yet to gain a point after 11 attempts.
The goals flowed for the Reds from Chris Wilson, who struck four times, while Terry James and Andrew McStay each bagged a brace of goals.
In the League Shield there were wins for Cleveland Hall and Birtley. The Hall hit Consett with a 5-0 defeat as Lewis Gray, Jamie Scope, Liam Docherty, Owen Fox and Gavin Jenkins all added their names to the scoresheet.
Birtley were also in scoring form in their home game with Blackfyne, winning by a 4-0 margin. Dean Taylor, Mark Crawford, Shaun McEvoy and Ross Preston all hit the net.
In the Under-17 division Blackfyne are now only three points behind leaders Leam Rangers, but they have fulfilled two more fixtures. Blackfyne won 5-1 at Swalwell when Shaun Hodgson scored twice.
Five Consett players were on the mark in their side's 5-0 defeat of Blaydon and two goals by Stephen Dodds featured in West Denton's 4-2 success at home to Felling.
Montagu and Redheugh shared the points in a 1-1 and Prudhoe just had the edge on bottom of the table Wear Valley.
Carl Smith scored twice for Prudhoe and Stephen Carr for Wear Valley, who went down two their 13th defeat, losing 3-2.
