A young Durham City women's team did extremely well to win 16-5 away to Newcastle University's women's side. This was a good performance by the Durham squad which included only one senior player, the remainder being juniors aged 12 to 17 years.

Durham City juniors lost 9-7 away to Durham School in a six-a-side match after a disastrous first quarter when they trailed 4-0. The City team settled down and played well for the final three quarters, and were unlucky to lose to an in-form School team.

Durham City junior men lost 15-4 to Lancaster City in the second round of the national championships. The game was played in the Garrison Pool, Catterick, as the City pool is well below the standards required for national competition.
The Durham team played hard throughout but could not break down a solid Lancaster defence. The result was no disgrace for City, as Lancaster are currently the best mens water polo club in the country.

Sedgefield 75
Seven Sedgefield players were in the North-Eastern counties squad of five which plays the other districts and Scotland in the National Under-17 Waterpolo championships at Sheffield.
Unfortunately, the squad only has two training sessions together due to financial limitations and coaching problems which resulted in two wins and two losses.
However, Scott Carpenter gave an outstanding display despite being the youngest player in the tournament at 14. He finished the tournament's leading scorer with 19 goals. This means he is at Great Britain U17 for tournaments in Scotland, Holland and France later in the year.
This weekend Chris Cuthbertson, Chris McEnemy, Ben Richardson, Daniel Kellett and Gareth Butcher all gave encouraging displays.
