THE funeral of a teenager who collapsed in a police cell after a suspected drugs overdose will be held this week.
Martin Dakers, 17, was found collapsed in a cell in Washington police station and later died from a heart attack in Sunderland Royal Hospital.
Police believe the youth had taken several Ecstasy tablets. They arrested him on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in Lambton Village, near Washington, County Durham, just after 9pm on Friday, March 14.
His family and friends will gather for a service in Washington Parish Church, Washington Village, on Thursday, followed by interment in Washington Cemetery.
Northumbria Police are investigating the death under the supervision of the independent Police Complaints Authority.
