Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers: The final cross country races in the NYSD League series were held at Richmond.

More men but fewer ladies turned out, but at least both had enough runners to score team points. The women's race was won by Dawn Richardson of Quakers in a time of 21.16 minutes. Catriona Gaudie was sixth in 22.17, Jill Soper 18th, and third in the V1 category, in 24.22, Pat Kirby 24th in 25.59 and Nicola Thorpe 28th in 27.06.

First home in the men's race was Paul Lowe of Mandale in 29.52, Richard Hall 17th in 32.47, John Yates 35th in 34.34, Richard Soper 73rd in 38.00, Ernie Huck 82nd in 39.05 and Alasdair Thorpe 91st in 40.33. There were 114 finishers in all.

William Hayward was again the only representative in the Under-13 Boy's race and came 11th out of 17.
