A JILTED pub worker faced a harassment charge yesterday after he telephoned his former girlfriend more than 20 times in less than a week.
Andrew Swan, 25, pleaded guilty at Harrogate Magistrates' Court to causing fear and distress to Nicola Bland while trying to persuade her to rekindle their two-year relationship.
Catherine Silverton, prosecuting, said Miss Bland ended the relationship in November, while she was expecting Swan's child, but he was unable to accept her decision.
Miss Silverton said Swan, of Century Walk, Harrogate, left messages saying he had attempted suicide.
Geoffrey Boothby, defending, said Swan was trying to find out whether all was well with the pregnancy.
He was sentenced to a 12-month probation order to run after a two-year order imposed last May expires. A restraining order was also imposed banning him from all contact with Miss Bland without limit of time. He was also ordered to pay £60 costs.
