MORE facilities for children and teenagers in Sunderland have been recommended in a review of outdoor play provision.
A report by Sunderland City Council looked at play areas in the city has recommended that resources be targeted at areas where there are few play facilities, that existing play areas be improved and facilities for teenagers be developed.
The city council also wants to ensure there are play areas near new housing developments.
The report coincides with the Government's national review of play provision and the allocation of National Lottery funding for play provision across the country.
Representatives from the Department of Culture, Media and Sport have visited Sunderland and it is hoped the report's recommendations will help secure funding.
