THE blue bag recycling scheme in Middlesbrough has netted £3,000 for charity.
Operated in partnership with Cheshire Recycling Limited, the scheme has so far collected 3,000 tonnes of waste paper.
For every tonne of paper collected, Cheshire Recycling donates £1 to the Save the Children Fund. Today, a cheque for £3,000 will be presented to Jean Norris, from the charity, by Councillor Ron Lowes, Middlesbrough's executive member for the environment, and Patrick Kilcoyne, of Cheshire Recycling.
As a result of the success of the blue bag scheme, all households in Middlesbrough will have a fortnightly collection starting next month, when homes will receive a collection calendar with their blue bag.
