AN appeal has been launched to make Easter extra special for people in the Darlington borough.
The Eggstravaganza Appeal, now in its third year, asks local people to buy an extra Easter egg when shopping for gifts for family and friends, and donate it to the charity.
The eggs will be distributed to needy people and families in the borough.
Easter eggs and chocolates can be left at the Alpha 103.2 radio studios in Woodland Road, Darlington, at the Asda store in Whinbush Way, and at St Teresa's Hospice, in Woodland Road, from Saturday until April 13.
Councillor Bill Dixon, the council's cabinet member for social services, said: "Easter is a special time when families gather together, exchanging gifts of eggs and having fun. The small gift of an egg to someone living on their own or a child will make a world of difference."
