A SCHOOL is offering parents the chance to learn alongside their children, as part of plans to keep people learning throughout their lives.
Harlow Green Community Infant School, in Low Fell, Gateshead, has been running a variety of courses to help parents keep up with their children.
The school, which has 267 pupils, aged three to seven, has been encouraging parents to think of themselves as partners with the school in their child's long term education.
Families, including children, parents and grandparents have been learning together, with the youngsters helping to teach parents some of the skills - particularly in the school's recently-opened computer suites.
As well as learning computer skills with the help of Gateshead College, parents also took part in maths and Parents as Partners sessions, joined nursery classes to find out more about the areas of learning, and also saw how to best support their child at home.
Earlier in the school year, all parents had the opportunity to attend meetings which showed them how they could help with homework.
The sessions have enabled parents to find out more about how their children will be educated during the coming years.
