A man questioned over the death of pony-and-trap driver Wayne Walker has been released, police have said.
The 26-year-old handed himself in after Mr Walker's family made a media appeal this week.
He was questioned and yesterday released on police bail, until June 4.
Mr Walker, 33, of Springwell Village, Washington, Wearside, died on Sunday when a Honda Accord car struck his pony and trap on the A182 road.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room at Southwick police station, in Sunderland, on 0191-563 6797.
