A CYCLING club for young people with disabilities has been presented with new sets of wheels.
The Gateway Wheelers provides specialist cycles and equipment for young people with disabilities, and organises regular rides from Chester-le-Street and Tees Valley for youngsters and their families.
On Thursday, the group's secretary, Brian Milner, a postman with the Chester-le-Street delivery office, was presented with a bicycle and go-kart from the Royal Mail Sports Foundation.
The foundation supports the sporting endeavours of Royal Mail staff, and it handed over the equipment, worth £4,200, at Chester-le-Street.
Mr Milner said a Warwickshire company had arranged for the cycle to be made to the club's specifications.
He said: "It is absolutely tremendous to be given this grant, which has enabled us to buy a specialist cycle which has an electric motor built in, which means those children who cannot cycle for long can still enjoy a substantial ride."
