A FREE service has been launched to help users make the right choice with high speed Internet access.
Broadband has already been installed across the region and many more areas are scheduled to have their telephone exchanges upgraded to offer it. It provides a link to the Internet up to ten times faster than a conventional phone line.
BroadbandBrokers, based in Consett, County Durham, is the first service of its kind in the UK which aims to inform potential Broadband users about the many providers available.
Paul Williams from BroadbandBrokers, said: "Broadband is revolutionising Internet access across the country, as it gives PC users Internet access at incredible speed.
"But there are more than 40 companies who supply broadband, and making the right choice can be confusing.
"Companies structure their prices differently, making it hard to compare. They also deliver differing levels of performance, and offer service support at differing hours and at differing cost.
"It's a complex business but we can help keep it simple. Our goal is to make it easy to understand what's on offer for the customer so they can make an informed choice.
