MODERN pop songs are at the heart of an exhibition at a North-East art gallery.
Songs and Routines, by artist Paul Rooney, is showing at the University of Sunderland's Vardy Gallery, until May 19.
Mr Rooney said: "My work often uses newly- composed popular song to engage with everyday life. I am also interested in the social aspects of popular music and entertainment, notably vocal and choral music, which has traditionally been a way of literally uniting communities in a shared culture."
The exhibition is as part of a series of modern media shows at the Vardy Gallery, in Ashburne House, Ryhope Road.
