Derek Fox delivered another classy performance leaving the rest fishing for second spot as the Eden Meadows star put 25.8.0 onto the scales for victory during Saturday's event.

Fishing on Acer Pool's peg 30, all carp in the 1 to 2-0-0 bracket fed as Derek alternated pellet corn and maggot hookbaits catching inside, down the track and over at 14.5 metres on the pole.

A double figured ghostie sealed next best for Quaker Tackle's Martin Rowell.

Going out to the island at 11 metres off Cherry Tree's peg ten, cat meat tempted the 10.0.0 specimen adding smaller samples on the corn for 18.5.0.

Silver fish delighted competitors during round three of the York Tackle Spring Series on Wheldrake's Poole Bridge Farm.

On peg three in the old pond a 4m approach with red maggot over chopped worm brought fish between 12ozs to 1.0.0 backed by a single one of 2.0.0.

Pegged opposite the winner on number six it was all tiny roach for teammate Kenny Wallace on the whip and caster at 3m for 15.11.0.

Midweek, chilly North-Easterly winds had a dramatic effect on catch returns at Woodland Lakes for Wednesday's Open and it was a return to winter tactics but come Saturday the carp came back on the feed with vengeance.

Split between Dragonfly Mallard Partridge Skylark and Swallow Lakes the match attracted one of its biggest turnouts 110 rods.

Partridge proved the lake to draw with five anglers in the frame practically in a line. Ray on peg 28 also at 13m opted for the deck approach on luncheon meat and weighed in a mixture of carp and tench.

In the second fixture of the Teesside League held on Partridge and Skylark Lakes the top six all came from Partridge.

Pole pullers Dave Harris had plenty to spare when he recorded 49.15.0. Sat on form peg 28 Dave netted carp to 5.0.0 on both pellet and corn switching between 5m and 13m lines to keep the bites coming.

Best of the rest: Anglers Choice rod Phil Noble worked inside at 3m and 5m on the paste taking 36.2.0 from peg 19 followed by fellow rod R Brown 32.12.0.

In a close contest at the Oaks on Thursday Map Elton's Mark Calvert emerged the winner returning 53.8.0 off Maple Lake's peg 63.

Mark, on the pellet, collected small carp throughout the day, working along the farside on the long pole.

It was more of the same on peg 46 as Billingham Tackle Box's Simon Medd nicked runner up spot by 8ozs with 40.12.0 from Map Elton rods John McGarrell and Mark Coyne on 40.4.0.

It was a string of terrific weights on York's newest venue Poppleton Lakes during the latest round of the Spring Series.

Armley Angling Centre had four in the frame led by Mick Webb on a level 35.0.0.

Mick off peg seven went over to the island utilising 14.5 metres in search of sport and soon found small carp responding.

Then Dave Wright who opted for maggot off peg 33 enjoyed a mixture of carp and tench sport that tipped the scales at 29.8.0.

Masham's Leighton Reservoir: Bradford's Fred Wallis grassed a superb rainbow on the venue scaling 10.0.0. Lures dominating such as Dawson's Olive black fritz and orange fritz; accounting for no less than 72 limit bags. 130 visitors grassed 403 trout.

Excellent week at Derwent Reservoir: 3.4 rod average. Heaviest rainbow 6.12.0. Hotspots Sailing Club below Millshields and Cronkley Bay. Most successful patterns Dawson's olive goldhead and black and orange fritz.
