Hinderwell v Highland Laddie
Despite a scrappy start to the game Highland Laddie took an early lead through Lowther. Hinderwell began to play well however and had soon found the equaliser through Sivills. There followed some end to end play with few scoring chances until just before half time Laddie took the lead again when Burns found the net. There followed a third goal for Laddie just after half time this time Brown getting his name on the score sheet. Hinderwell got themselves back into the game through Harvey after a good run down the right. As Hinderwell were pushing forward for the equaliser Laddie broke away and Dowson converted to clinch the points.
Lealholm v Redcar Mackinlay Park
An evenly fought game finished with the draw being a fair result. In the first half Lealholm created a few chances but thanks to some good saves by the Redcar keeper, first a shot from Chadwick then a one-on-one save off Dowson, the game remained goalless at the break. Ten minutes into the second half a break from Mackinlay Park led to a player being pulled back, the ball ricocheted to an attacking player who scored from close range. With the game condensed in the midfield very few chances were created and with the Redcar defence playing well Lealholm looked unlikely to level until with just two minutes remaining the ball fell kindly for Atkinson to place it past the Redcar keeper.
Lingdale Utd v Goldsborough
The first 20 minutes saw Lingdale in control with both Iseton and Hololob coming close.
A Lingdale corner was swung in by Woodall, Goldsborough cleared but only as far as Iseton who volleyed home from the edge of the box. Lingdale dominated the rest of the first half without adding to the score then, totally against the run of play, and with only seconds remaining Goldsborough equalised with a close-range header from Butler. Goldsborough began the second half the better team resulting in Butler's second goal after a fine move down the left.
On the hour the best goal of the game was scored for Goldsborough by Dent when he curled a shot in from 25 yards. Final score was 3-1.
The Northern Echo Cup semi-final
Loftus Ath v Boosbeck Utd
Boosbeck took the lead after winning a penalty in the first minute which Crawford converted successfully. Loftus then began to play well and were the better side for the next 20 minutes, Dixon levelling the score with a well placed shot. Loftus then lost their keeper through injury but his replacement, Whitwell earned himself the man of the match as he kept Boosbeck out.
The second half was evenly matched., both teams pushing for the winner. As Loftus pushed forward a defensive mistake allowed Boosbeck the break, Johns duly finding the net to score what proved to be the goal that took his team to the final.
Eileen Hodgson Bowl
Brotton WMC v Grangetown YCC
The game began with Grangetown winning the midfield battle but then Brotton took the lead when a quickly taken throw-in saw Peggs beat the keeper. This seemed to settle Brotton who soon extended their lead with a well taken goal from Scott, giving Brotton a two goal advantage at the break.
In the second half the home team kept the pressure on Grangetown and went further ahead when Scott headed across goal and a brave header from Solomon found the back of the net. Solomon went on to score his second with a clever chip. Brotton could have had more but Moore made some great saves at the feet of Scott. Brotton sat back on their 4-0 lead and with 20 minutes to go Ferguson made a late run to place the ball into the net, despite a strong offside appeal.
Boddy Printers Sunday League
Poverina need just one point from their two remaining games to take the championship. What looked, on the cards, as their most testing game, away to D&E Locksmiths proved a no-contest game as they won 8-0. Star man was Stephen Parker who scored five from midfield. Singles from Lee Freer and Peter DiCarlo and an own goal gave Poverina the points.
Redcar Glazing ran riot, away to Big W, with a 10-0 result. Peter Manton scored five, Carl Eddon and Paul McCulloch two each and one from Michael Hardy. This is good form for Redcar Glazing as they are due to meet D&E Locksmiths in one of the league's cup finals.
Time is running out for Cleveland Inn's title challenge but they could do no more when they beat Iceland Teesside 5-1.
John Ryan got a hat trick while Stuart Carter and Matthew Homer made up Cleveland Inn's five. Paul Muthana replying for Iceland. Cleveland Inn lost to D&E Locksmiths way back in September and it is now proving costly.
In the Cleveland local derby, Lingdale YCC just edged out Boosbeck St Aidens by the odd goal in five.
Lingdale admitted to being second best but its goals that count. Two from Simon Daynes and one from Danny Harris saw Lingdale home but it was Boosbeck who carried no luck, who went home the vanquished despite two goals from Steven Woodall.
Jack and Jill and Priestfields fought out a 4-4 draw. A just result as both teams gave their all. Priestfields held sway for the early part of the game but Jack and Jill would not accept defeat. For Priestfields, Michael Joseph scored twice and Craig Wood and Chris Townsend while Wayne Crockett got a hat trick for Jack and Jill as Lee Duckling added the other.
