Sunday Invitation Ladies Hockey League - Norton 3 v 3 New Dales: What turned out to be one of the most entertaining games of the season with both teams in mid table and eager for points, it was the visitors who took early possession and opened the scoring when Hannah Phillips beat Norton's defence and keeper Sarah Whitelock. New Dales continued to apply pressure, however, Norton soon recovered when teenager Laura Whaley rounded New Dales defence to fire a shot past their keeper Gill Brine. This goal breathed new life into Norton and it was not too long before in-form Laura Whaley added a further two goals to give her her first league hat-trick of the season. The second half saw New Dales commence strongly with some great runs down the right pulling a goal back after Nell Dinsdale brought New Dales back into the game. In an exciting and skilful period by both teams, New Dales' Sandra Kinchen scored the equaliser. The remaining time saw both teams continue to pressure in an attempt to score the winning goal. Unfortunately, for both teams the score remained a well deserved draw. Player of the match for Norton, Laura Whaley, for New Dales Gill Brine.
Mackinlay Park 2 v 0 Richmond
Mackinlay emerged 2-0 winners from this competitive match with both teams having good chances in the first half but neither were able to capitalise on their chances and the half-time score remained goalless. Early in the second half Mackinlay had a period of sustained pressure on the Richmond defence resulting in a penalty corner, captain Jean Hyde received the ball from Rachael Nixon who passed a square ball to Marion Calvert on the top of the circle who then completed the move to score with a strong shot. Later in the half Rachael Nixon scored with an excellent flick on goal after good passing and a well worked build up from the home team. Richmond had some good pressure on the opposite goal, but Mackinlay's defence and their own players' player keeper Louise Larvin kept a clean sheet for the home side. Player of the match Marion Calvert for Mackinlay and Haley Badden for Richmond.
