Redcar Town Under-15s progressed to the final of the TJFA league cup after beating Riverside Rovers 3-2 despite playing with ten men for the last 30 minutes.

Stephen Leneghan was at his destructive best, scoring a superb hat-trick and showing a great touch and brilliant target awareness.

Riverside, to their credit put in a fine performance and when they come up into the first division next season they will scare the life out of their opponents.

The seasiders have had a magnificent season coming out of the division two last May and if results go their way could well end up with a league and cup double.

Credit also to the appointed referee Steve Smitheringale who did a great job in the middle.

Norton and Stockton Ancients

Norton Under-8s dominated their match against Hartburn with Josh MacDonald volleying home after just eight minutes. With Norton's defence being well-marshalled by Josh Fleming, David Roth made it 2-0 in the second half, with Hartburn scoring a scrappy reply. Almost immediately, Roth retaliated by scoring his second before Liam Woodhouse hit the post, but the score finished with Norton getting a well-deserved 3-1 win. Jack Griffiths was man of the match.

Norton Under-10s got through to the finals after a nail-biting penalty shoot-out against Hartlepool Crests. The first half was very even, with both teams playing good football but in the second half, Norton dominated the game with the Crest keeper in outstanding form, making first class saves from Robson, Turner and Cass. The game went to extra time with Norton again dominating without scoring. Final score was 3-1 on penalties.

A bottom of the league battle against Norton Under-12s and South Bank resulted in a 1-0 win for Norton. It was a very even first half with chances few and far between. South Bank edging the half with most of the possession. Norton upped the tempo in the second half, with Callum O'Sullivan hitting the crossbar from 20 yards before a goal-mouth scramble which saw the ball fall to Peter Bulmer who struck the ball into the roof of the net. With five minutes to go, South Bank piled on the pressure but Norton stood firm to take the win.

Norton Under-12 Girls took control immediately at home against Hartlepool St Francis, playing good football. Pressure continued forcing Hartlepool to work continually with Norton keeping a fantastic shape throughout. Philippa Thomas scored a terrific goal in the second quarter, closely followed by Emily Wilson of Norton. A third goal clinched the points for Norton to make the final score 3-0 to.

Norton Under-13 won 4-0 at Bishop Auckland St Marys. They started the match in top gear and never let up in the first half, creating lots of chances but not scoring. The second half was more of the same until Wilson popped up and scored with a header. Another three goals quickly followed, two from Desnan and one from Williams.

Norton Under-14 A's took on Norton in the semi-final clash of the League Cup. Within the first minutes, the Norton A opened the scoring with a great goal from David Scaife. Some good football was played by both teams, when Norton A scored again through Chris Mannion at the end of the first half. Both teams failed to score in the second half, so it was Norton A that went through to the Final with a 2-0 win.

The Under-15s lost 2-0 away to Richmond.

Clavering Park were unable to beat Norton Under-17s in their last game of the season with P Wakefield having only one save to make in the match. With gravel-like conditions making the ground hard, it took Norton time before they took control of the match. Arman Asif converted a penalty tp make it 1-0, followed by two great strikes from Kris Mulpetre and Michael Rushforth which secured Norton's 3-0 win.

Blackfyne

The Under-11s drew 2-2 with fellow title chasers Low Fell. Connor Cruddas was voted man of the match by the opposition and scored one of the goals with Paul Bell scoring the other - a penalty.

The Under-12s lost 2-1 in a crucial game against Redheugh. Andrew Rennoldson scored the goal and Stephen Shaw was man of the match.

Despite Philip Henderson missing a penalty the Under-15s 'Rhino's' went on the beat Beamish 6-2. Tony Murdoch, Cameron Etheridge, Harry James (2) and Liam Burns (2) were the scorers. Liam Burns deserves a special mention for a brilliant 20-yard free kick. Tony O'Brien was named man of the match.

Richmond Town

Richmond Town Under-15s won their semi-final against first division Norton and Stockton Ancients 2-0, writes BEN PROSSER.

It was a tense and exciting game. A good all round performance from Richmond but in particular Peter Akers who was outstanding in defence and Michael Layfield had a strong game midfield. Charlie Cox scored the goals in the second half.

Richmond Under-13s were away to TIBS and won 6-0. In a fairly even first half both teams missed chances before S Pritchard opened the scoring. Richmond took control in the second half and A Ramsey scored to give Richmond a two-goal cushion. Further goals from S Pritchard, T Stanwix, A Hillary and G Love resulted in Richmond running out comfortable winners.

Richmond Under-12s secured their 13th successive league victory with a straightforward win over Northallerton. Two goals midway through the first half from D Botrill and a goal from B Holmes early in the second half enabled Richmond to claim another win and ensure their final match at home this season ended in success. Richmond dominated the match for long periods of play and they pinned Northallerton in their own half for most of the match. The scoreline does not adequately reflect the superiority of Richmond but they have fully deserved doing the double against Northallerton whom they will meet again in the R&D Cup final next month.

Richmond Under-11s were at home last Wednesday to Catterick AWS in a league match between two teams near the top of the table. An entertaining end to end game watched by a good crowd was decided by the early goal in the game scored by G Love when he volleyed a cross from the right past the Catterick keeper. Man of match was G Hill.

Richmond Under-11s travelled to Mount Pleasant Rangers for a semi final on Sunday. Richmond started the game brightly but were again unable to turn possession into goals and they turned around at half time level. The second half saw Mount Pleasant push forward and they were rewarded when they scored when a shot went past the outstretched L Newton in goal. Richmond pushed forward for the equaliser but they wasted opportunities and came out of the game with nothing. Man of match was M Snape.

Brompton Juniors

Fourth Division Brompton Juniors Under-14s crashed out of the TJA Challenge Cup quarter-final to First Division St Marys 6-0.

Starting with ten boys due to injuries and school commitments, Brompton produced a resilient performance with Bunn and Dunn thwarting the attacks while Sutton and Goodrum put the visitors defence under pressure with speedy breaks St Marys went into the break 2-0 up. Thornbrough who could only play half a game, was replaced by Pedley who was making his debut, ten weeks after signing for the club.

But he only lasted ten minutes due to a reoccurrence of his injury. The nine boys battled on showing a great team attitude with Catchpole, Lister, Brown and Fedyzyn helping their teammates in a defensive second half performance but they could not prevent St Marys putting four more goals past the luckless Wilson.

Thirsk Falcons

Last week Thirsk Under-13s achieved promotion into division four, defeating Whitby 7-2. Fountain (3), Raw (2), D Padget and Tom James were the scorers.

Thirsk then secured the division five championship with a resounding 15-0 win over Whinney Banks taking their goals tally to 104.

The jubilant scorers were D Padget (3), Fountain (3), Raw (2), Costick (2), Tom Daniel, Tom James, J Padget, Nick Dixon and goalkeeper Andrew Brough. Man of the match was Dion Costick.

Thirsk Under-14s picked up a 2-0 win against Dormans. Falcons played some good physical football resulting in a wonderful goal by man of the match David James and a well taken strike from Shane Bendelow. Mark Furniss, Martin Hope and goalie Jack Mowat all turned in excellent defensive displays for a clean sheet.

Rohm and Haas JOC Hetton Youth League

Sides were involved in the league subsidiary cup and Lumley gained revenge for a recent defeat by Herrington, when they ran out 5-2 winners.

Craig Ellison and Kyle Dinsdale scored for the hosts during the opening half when Lumley replied through Mark Younger and Simon Doloman.

The Cestrians had the better of the second half exchanges when Younger completed his hat-trick and Craig McManus also found the net.

Sacriston and Washington Dunlop drew 2-2. Dave Goundy netted for Sacriston during the opening 45 minutes and Phil Ingram enabled Dunlop to go in on level terms.

Dunlop scored when Ingram again struck while for Sacriston Anthony Bussey hit the target.

Second from top Jarrow St Bedes suffered a 4-3 defeat at home to third placed Ryhope. Mark Lawton (2), Shaun Petch and Richard Hall netted for Ryhope with Jonathan Moore (2) and Robert Blackburn on the mark for St Bedes.

Lambton Street, who have won just once in the league, recorded the highest score of the day when they put six goals past Hebburn, who managed one from Michael Barnes in reply. Scott Danks rifled a hat-trick and other scorers for Lambton Street were David Redman, David Snowdon and Jason Meston.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

Chester-le-Street still have a six points league over Redheugh at the top of the top of the table but the Reds have three games in hand.

Walker Central are joint second with Redheugh and they have played no fewer than four fixtures than Chester-le-Street.

The Cestrians visited Whitley Bay and ran out convincing 7-2 winners after establishing a 3-1 interval lead. Carl Jones struck a hat-trick, Harry Flynn bagged a brace of goals and others on target were Paul McDonald and Andrew Murray. Matthew Reeve and Simon Reay struck for Whitley Bay.

Redheugh won for the tenth time in 13 outings defeating New Hartley 3-0. All the goals were scored in the second period and were accredited to Ken Boyle (2) and Ben Johnson.

Walker Central faced a stiffer test even though they lined up against bottom of the table North Tyneside College who have won twice in 15 attempts. The College led 1-0 at the interval, but second half strikes by Tony Ross and Scott McDonald earned Walker Central three crucial points which keeps them in contention for the championship.

Consett reached double figures in their home game with Prudhoe Town. They scored five times in each half to end 10-2 winners. Craig Rice (4), David Lumley (2), Colin Snalham (correct), Robbie Blemmins, David Edgar and Scott Rae all found the net for Steelmen while Mark Hutchinson and John Gilmour recorded consolation goals for Prudhoe Town.

New County North Durham Youth League

Leam Rangers will meet Cleveland Hall in the final of the Edward Wanless Cup. Leam Rangers met Blackfyne and won 5-2 with goals from Sebastian James (2), John Storey, Curtis Wooff and Stephen Roberts. Matthew Edgar and Daniel Stewart replied for Blackfyne.

In the other semi-final Cleveland Hall had the better of Redheugh by a 2-0 margin, thanks to goals by Liam Docherty and Owen Fox.

One game was played in the Under-16 division and victory for Blaydon maintained their challenge for a top spot. They saw off the challenge from bottom of the table Rutherford, who are still pointless, by a 4-0 margin.

In the Under-17 division leaders Leam Rangers were held to a draw while Blackfyne won. There is now just one point separating the pair, although Leam Rangers have two games in hand over their closest rivals.

Leam Rangers hosted third from bottom Blaydon and finished 1-1. Anthony Herrington scored for Rangers and Lawrence Davies for Blaydon.

Blackfyne visited West Denton and two goals from Gavin Clews enabled them to record a crucial 3-1 victory.

Prudhoe Town made the highest score in the section when they hit Wear Valley 9-0. Most of the goals came from Tony Fox, who found the net on five occasions and Clark Smith.

Matthew Clark, Daniel Appleby and Michael Jackson were all on target in Consett's 3-0 success at Redheugh, while Anthony Thompson and Steve Richardson steered Felling Magpies to a narrow 2-1 home success over Swalwell for whom Gary Andrews scored.
