SIR Tom Farmer, founder and chairman of Kwik-Fit, will be principal guest speaker at the launch of a forum designed to boost the region's entrepreneurial spirit.
Sir Tom is expected to share his passion for business with the newly-established Entrepreneurs Forum at the inaugural Founders' Dinner next month.
The event will bring together top names from the region's business community to mark the birth of the forum as it fulfils its pledge to give entrepreneurs the chance to share experiences.
Among the 50 members invited to join the forum and take up the mantle of founder membership are Tom Knight of JJB Sports, Paul Walker of Sage, Hossain Rezaei of Pride Valley Foods, Mike Browne, chairman of SCS Upholstery, Duncan Bannatyne of Bannatyne Leisure and Bob Murray, chairman of Sunderland Association Football Club.
The forum, which is chaired by Sir Peter Vardy, provides a sounding board for established entrepreneurs and a support and advice network. Founder members act as mentors to encourage businessmen and women behind some of the region's fastest growing companies.
The blueprint for the forum, which was launched by Sir Richard Branson in Newcastle in February, was based on the Scottish Entrepreneurial Exchange of which Sir Tom Farmer is honorary president.
The Founders' Dinner is to be held at The County hotel in Durham on May 15.
