YOUNGSTERS can see the winking eye of the Gateshead Millennium Bridge in action over the Easter holidays.
The bridge will tilt 12 times between tomorrow and Sunday, April 27.
It uses a mechanism to open, turning on pivots on both sides of the river to form a gateway arch. Each opening or closing takes four minutes.
It is powered by eight electric motors totalling 440 kilowatts or 589 horsepower - more power than the fastest sports cars such as a Ferrari F50 or Lamborghini Diablo and the same as eight Ford Escort cars.
