CHILDREN have the chance to clown about and get fit at the same time during a family fun-run next month.
The run and fun day has been organised by Sure Start in east Cleveland, and will be on Sunday, May 18, from 11am to 3pm.
Yesterday Jan Croudace, of Sure Start, donned a clown's outfit to get the message across to children from Roseberry Square Youth and Community Centre playgroup, in Redcar.
The main event of the day will be a two-mile fun-run from noon, with a T-shirt and medal for every finisher. Other activities include circus skills, soft play, sports taster sessions, and a nature trail.
Jane Shearer, from Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's events team, is helping Sure Start organise the event.
She said: "I am sure mums and dads will want to come and watch their children race, then they can join in with a whole range of exciting activities."
Sure Start is a Government-sponsored organisation which provides support for families with children aged up to four, and mothers-to-be.
Entry to the fun-run is £2 for each child. For details, visit any Sure Start office in east Cleveland, or call (01642) 485538.
