AUTHOR Jonathan Tulloch marked the launch of his latest novel at the weekend with a visit to his local bookstore in Thirsk.
The event, at White Rose Books, involved Mr Tulloch, of Bagby, near Thirsk, reading excerpts from The Lottery.
Set in Gateshead, The Lottery tells the tale of two jackpot winners and their fortunes after the win. It is the third of his novels to be set in the town.
Mr Tulloch's wife, Shirley, said: "We lived in Gateshead before starting a family and Jonathan loved it there. His novels draw on the characters and peculiarities of the town."
The 34-year-old's first novel, The Season Ticket, which was adapted into the film Purely Belter, and his second novel, Bonny Lad, have both been well received.
White Rose Books has signed copies of The Lottery for anyone who was unable to attend the event.
l A storytime afternoon is taking place at the shop tomorrow, from 2pm, for youngsters aged between three and six.
