FIREFIGHTERS spent eight hours yesterday battling a large moorland fire at Grosmont, which started by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway line.
Ten fire engines from across the county attended the 30-hectare blaze. A brigade spokesman said they were unable to say whether the fire could have been caused by a steam train travelling through the tinder-dry moorland.
