A husband was cleared yesterday of raping his lesbian wife who threw him out and moved in with her gay lover.
The father of two, 38, from east Cleveland, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was found not guilty after a two-day trial at Teesside Crown Court, of two charges of raping his wife of 14 years.
The 30-year-old woman told the jury earlier that she had realised she was gay when she was 12, but she became a bride at 17.
She alleged that her husband had raped her twice.
He was arrested last October, and denied her allegations or that they even had sex.
The man said he was shocked to learn she was having a relationship with the other woman, said Jeremy Hill-Baker, prosecuting.
He denied two charges of rape on July 16 and between July 29 and August 2 last year.
The jury found him not guilty of the first rape by unanimous decision and not guilty of the second by direction of the judge.
