MOTORISTS will be given more information about available parking spaces in Darlington this Easter.
A £160,000 variable messaging system, which aims to reduce traffic congestion and queues for car parks, has been installed in the town.
Five signs on the main routes into Darlington, are being tested and borough council officials hope they will be operational by this weekend.
The flow of vehicles in and out of town centre car parks will be monitored in each car park and the information sent to an aerial on the town hall, from which the information will be transmitted to the signs.
The boards have been erected in Woodland Road, Northgate, Haughton Road, Yarm Road and Victoria Road.
