FUN-seeking youngsters can have an adventure of their own if they set off to find a bounty of hidden treasure in an ancient wood.

The Easter adventure has been organised by the Forestry Commission, which is inviting young children and their families to take part in a treasure hunt at Hamsterley Forest.

Chocolate eggs will be hidden throughout the 4,000 acre woodland along with some tantalising clues.

The challenge is being set on Easter Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday and will be followed by another fun day on Thursday, April 24.

Forest rangers will be hosting eco-friendly-themed fun and games between 2pm and 4pm, including shelter building and team activities.

Ranger Robin Lofthouse said: "After the long cold winter months Easter is always one of our most popular times at Hamsterley, with flowers and buds starting to bloom.

"Our events offer lots of fun for all the family."
