ADDITIONAL police patrols have gone on duty and local Watch schemes have been put on the alert following a second night of car crime in the Thirsk area.
Earlier this week Borrowby was targeted by thieves who damaged a number of vehicles before stealing a Vauxhall Astra. That vehicle was later found burnt-out in Leeds.
On Tuesday, thieves struck again in the area, with five thefts from cars and three thefts of cars. Three garages were also broken into.
A Land Rover Discovery was taken from Sessay and a Astra, which had been reported stolen from Tadcaster, was left in its place. A Metro was taken from Thirsk and a Fiesta from Knayton.
Police are urging people to be on the alert and to contact the witness line, on (01609) 789355, if they see anything suspicious.
