RED House School's under-14 boys hockey team, inspired by a 4-1 victory over Yorkshire champions Scarborough College, went on to represent the North-East at the quarter-final stage of the national HA Youth Cup competition at Warwick University.
In a close and tough match against Dean Close School from Cheltenham, Red House took an early lead with a striking goal by Alexander Armstrong, followed by a well-worked goal by Matthew Umpleby.
But some excellent work and a string of impressive saves by Joseph Winterschladen in the Red House goal failed to secure victory as fatigue set in and Dean fought back to win 3-2.
Meanwhile, the under-12 team produced an impressive performance to win 6-1 in the County Cup against Sandhill View. Scorers were P Crewe (2), M Copeland (3) and P Warwick.
The hockey successes have contributed to a magnificent start to the sporting year for Red House.
The under-13 football team had a 100pc league record this year and won the North East Prep School League for the second year running.
The under-13 rugby team reached the semi-finals of the Durham schools championship, while the under-11s exceeded all expectations by reaching the quarter-finals.
The school's cross-country runners are a force to be reckoned with.
At the Stockton schools championship, all the school's individual entrants qualified to represent Stockton in the Cleveland schools championship.
Red House teams across all age groups also had an outstanding netball season, while the under-11 girls were runners-up in the North-East and Cumbria mini hockey finals.
The under-16 girls were third at the finals in Leeds, while the under-12 boys won 6-1 in three county cup finals.
