A PROJECT aiming to get children in touch with nature is launched next week.
The Exploring the Great Outdoors (Ego) scheme will help youngsters aged five to 16 take a fresh look at the environment on their doorstep, through nature activities, outdoor games and crafts.
Pupils from the Stanley area and from High Grange, Crook, are taking part in taster sessions during the Easter holidays.
The scheme will be expanded later this year, to take in 12 sites across County Durham.
The organisers are holding a fun day in Stanley Burn Woods, Craghead, near Stanley, on Wednesday, from 1pm to 3pm, where youngsters can try out crafts.
