LEAFLETS are to be distributed around the Richmond area this weekend urging people to support a campaign to have Broadband technology installed across the area.
British Telecom recently lowered the threshold which triggers consideration.
Now, only 300 people need to sign a petition requesting the Internet facility, which speed up connections and the time it takes to download information.
Broadband also works off a separate connection, allowing users to continue operating their phones while online.
"We are currently investigating the various options for providing Broadband across the Richmondshire district, ," said campaign spokesman Ian Hepworth.
"But our first campaign will be aimed at getting Richmond and Catterick Garrison upgraded.
"We will be distributing 10,000 leaflets across the area explaining what has to be done.
"But, if we can get 300 registrations in both Richmond and Catterick Garrison, we will have achieved the first part of our campaign."
